The Founding Duo Behind Animatra Manufacturing
How did two people from Switzerland end up starting a company focused on dinosaur animatronics? Find inspiration in the unconventional career paths of Daycee Bidelspach and Zigmund Skalbeck!
Daycee Bidelspach has always been passionate about the world of theater. After finishing school, she interned in stage construction at the Schauspielhaus Zürich. Inspired by imaginative plays and creative projects, she immersed herself in the craft of creating realistic animal figures.
Her growing passion for animatronics and the skills she acquired led her to Hawai’i in 2014, where she worked as an animatronics project manager on the set of Jurassic World. She now has over ten years of experience in the film industry and has thrilled millions with her detailed dinosaur animatronics.
Zigmund Skalbeck immersed himself in the exciting world of dinosaurs from an early age. After completing an apprenticeship in the Aathal Dinosaur Museum in Switzerland and studying computer science, he worked on a variety of film sets in Canada and the U.S., where he discovered his passion for animatronics. There, he met Daycee on the set of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
The two animatronics enthusiasts quickly realized how well they worked together as a team. After completing a few small joint projects and private commissions together, they decided to start their own company, Animatra Manufacturing.
